If you’re looking to roll up a rocky mountain or meet up with your study group at your local community college, nothing beats an ATV. Quad bikes and four-seater UTVs are great for enjoying the outdoors, and they can be even more fun when you can stream music directly with waterproof ATV speakers.

Custom-built ATV speakers can be expensive and difficult to install onto another vehicle. Meanwhile, the other option: conventional 4-inch car speakers, are not waterproof and don’t allow for easy Bluetooth streaming.

Therefore, the most affordable and convenient solution is to go for prebuilt ATV speakers. I’ve listed some of the best prebuilt ATV speakers and systems in the list below.

Reviews of the Best Waterproof ATV Speakers

If you’re looking to add extra channels to your already excellent sound system, why not consider the Boss MRWT40 speaker pair; they have a marine-grade coating and looking to hook up with a 200W amplifier. These ATV speakers will deliver crisp sound at high enough volumes. (Even over the engine rumbling noise.)

See On Amazon

Specs

  • IP rating: Weatherproof
  • Dimensions: 7.1 x 5.4 x 7.1 inches
  • Weight: 6lbs
  • Wattage: 200W each
  • Inputs: For external amplifiers only
  • Channels: Single-channel dual speakers.

The Boss Audio MRWT40 speaker system includes a dual-speaker setup. Each speaker has a 4-inch diameter and consumes 200W of power.

These Boss Audio speakers include an adjustable clamp compatible with larger roll bar diameters; hence, they might not fit on smaller metal bars such as motorcycle and ATV handlebars. (These are more compatible with larger roll cages on UTVs and wakeboard towers on boats.)

Both speakers have a glossy finish and include poly-injection speaker cones. The ATV speakers claim to be fully weatherproof, but there is no official IP rating.

This package includes only the speaker pair; hence, if you already understand the importance of an Amp and DAC, you will have to purchase an amplifier and wiring kit separately.

Besides, for the chance to stream music directly from your mobile devices, you need a good amp with Bluetooth functionality.

The sound performance on the Boss Audio MRWT40 is not impressive, especially considering the price tag on these. Nonetheless, they do a pretty decent job of maintaining somewhat crystal clear sound on the mids and highs. (Thanks to the 1″ Mylar Dome Tweeter.)

What We Like

Know Before Buying

Lacks in-built Bluetooth connectivity

Needs an external amp for higher volumes

The Boss Audio MC750B waterproof ATV speaker runs a tight ship on a small and compact size. The 4-inch speakers look great with their shiny chrome finish, and they spit out relatively decent crystal clear sound. These ATV speakers, with their compact amplifier and weatherproof protection, can easily play your favorite music without interference from outdoor elements.

Specs

  • IP rating: Weatherproof
  • Dimensions: 21.1 x 5 x 5.75 inches
  • Weight: 4.5lbs
  • Wattage: 1000W (as advertized)
  • Inputs: 1/8″ TRS and Bluetooth audio streaming
  • Channels: Two-channel dual speakers.

The Boss audio MC750B system includes two 4″ speakers with a two-channel amplifier and wire harness. The system is compatible with any 12V vehicle and there is an adjustable clamp made for fitting in smaller rods such as the handlebars; hence, these are some of the best ATV speakers for motorcycles and ATVs.

The housing for this ATV speaker is made out of hard plastic with a metal speaker grille protecting the drivers and the plastic enclosure. The chrome plating gives it a very premium look and blends perfectly with motorcycles having the same finish.

The Boss Audio MC750B speakers are weatherproof but it is not resistant to salt-water corrosion.

Setting up the amplifier might be a bit tricky, especially if you are installing it on a motorcycle. Fortunately, it supports Bluetooth; hence, there’s no need to plug in an aux cord every time. The speakers are very easy to install either on the handlebars or the crash bar of a motorcycle/ATV.

The power of the speakers is advertised as 1000W but unfortunately, considering the size of the drivers, these cannot reach extremely high volumes. Also, the bass is not very powerful and there’s noticeable distortion at mid-high volumes. Fortunately, with the engine rumbling noise, you will barely notice the distortion.

By the way, I highly suggest checking out some solar-powered systems as your you-go-to-campfire speakers.

For loud music, Bluetooth audio streaming, and multi-colored LED lights on your ATV, the best option is the BOSS ATV30BRGB. These soundbar-style ATV speakers are very easy to install, include customizable RGB via a wireless remote, and even include a wired remote control to control the audio. For resisting the outdoor elements while playing your favorite music: this is one of the best.

Specs

  • IP rating: IPX5
  • Dimensions: ‎28.5 x 11.6 x 7.9 inches
  • Weight: 12.45lbs
  • Wattage: 450W each
  • Inputs: 3.5mm aux cord and Bluetooth
  • Channels: Dual-channel dual speakers.

The Boss Audio ATV30BRGB speaker system has a C-shaped design with two channels at either end. Everything is included such as an in-built amplifier, wiring harness, and wired remote control, making it very easy to plug and play instantly.

The device is built out of hard plastic and feels sturdy enough to handle a few drops of water. Unfortunately, the plastic housing is (surprisingly) less durable than expected, and the IPX5 rating doesn’t guarantee complete waterproofing.

The controls scheme is pretty straightforward: there is a wired remote with buttons for playing, pausing, skipping tracks, and pairing with Bluetooth. On top of that, the system has RGB LEDs coming out from either end of the system and the RGB can be customized with the additional wireless remote.

The Boss Audio ATV30BRGB ATV speaker incorporates 6.5″ poly-injection speaker cones with dedicated 1.5″ soft dome tweeters. Despite decent mids and highs, the lack of bass in this system is unacceptable. (Especially considering how loud it can get.)

A four-channel waterproof ATV speaker system can provide a much more immersive music listening experience, and the NOAM NUTV4 Quad is one of the best options. The speakers are marine-grade waterproof and come with their own 4-channel amplifier and wired control panel. I highly recommend these ATV speakers because of their ability to deliver clear surround sound over the engine noise of an all-terrain vehicle.

Specs

  • IP rating: Marine-grade waterproof
  • Dimensions: ‎4″ speakers with 1″ tweeter
  • Weight: 15.12lbs
  • Wattage: 100W each
  • Inputs: 3.5mm aux cord and Bluetooth
  • Channels: Four-channel stereo

The NOAM NUTV4 Quad waterproof ATV speakers include four speakers, a four-channel amplifier, and an inline control panel.

The housing for the speakers is made out of hard plastic and includes a corrosion-resistant finish. The 1″ PEI Neodymium Dome Tweeter has protection in the form of a thin metal grille. Meanwhile, the 4” High-Quality Poly Injection Cone has the usual plastic material.

The adjustable clamps for the speakers support any roll bar within a 1.5″-2″ diameter. The clamp is specifically designed for ATVs and larger UTVs; hence, it will not fit with many motorcycles.

The inline control panel includes dedicated buttons for power, volume, and changing tracks. Also, it supports the 3.5mm receptacle. (With a waterproof cap.)

In regards to the sound quality: there is some distortion, but it gets drowned out when there is full engine throttle. Also, since there is no subwoofer, there is no heavy bass.

Soundbar-style ATV speakers are not for everyone. Despite being easy to install (strap it in and supply power), they can be too bulky for some UTVs. (Motorcycles are way out of the question.) Regardless, this design allows for a more immersive experience with higher sound quality, and the Sound storm BTB6 is one of the best ATV speakers for decent sound projection and crisp sound performance.

Specs

  • IP rating: IPX5 with Marine-grade coating
  • Dimensions: ‎7.5 x 26 x 7.5 inches
  • Weight: 12.5lbs
  • Wattage: 450W max power, 225W RMS
  • Inputs: 3.5mm aux cord and Bluetooth
  • Channels: Dual speakers

The Sound Storm BTB6 is a dual-channel waterproof ATV speaker with a C-shaped soundbar design. The device comes with an inbuilt amplifier and includes a corrosion-resistant waterproof coating.

This Sound Storm speaker is quite bulky and only meant for use in ATVs and UTVs. Regardless, the package includes heavy-duty zip ties and velcro straps for easy installation. Apart from that, the system features marine-grade housing

Unfortunately, there are no physical controls to skip tracks or change the volume; hence, audio has to be managed via the mobile device. (Smartphone or iPod connected via Bluetooth/3.5mm.)

The sound quality on the Sound Storm BTB6 waterproof ATV speakers is fairly decent as long as you don’t increase the volume too much. Audio is loud enough at 50% but the lack of a subwoofer and overemphasized tweeters makes the audio sound very messy.

Also, if you are hoping to host an impromptu karaoke session outdoors, why not take a look at our list of the best Karaoke speakers. (I recommend the Sony SRS-XP700 because of its battery.)

It’s not easy to find a good set of ATV speakers with distortion-free frequency responses. Fortunately, these two-channel speakers provided by Seismic have an impressive pair of tweeters and voice coils. The mids and highs are top-notch (considering the affordable price tag), and it’s got a middling bass response. Besides, these speakers are marine-grade waterproof and can pump out tunes at a peak power of 250W each.

Specs

  • IP rating: Waterproof and marine-grade coating
  • Dimensions: ‎‎6.5-inch speakers
  • Weight: 11.1lbs
  • Wattage: 250W (each)
  • Inputs: Dual speakers only (need external amp)
  • Channels: Dual-channel speakers

The Seismic Audio – SA-WT65W package includes two marine-grade speakers. Unfortunately, there is no in-built amplifier or Bluetooth module, and you will have to purchase them separately.

The housing unit is made out of molded ABS plastic, and this makes the speakers as lightweight as possible. The speakers are completely waterproof and include a UV and corrosion-resistant coating. (Marine-grade.)

The speakers are made for mounting with wakeboard towers. Nonetheless, the adjustable clamps will easily support any bar between 1.25″ and 2″ in diameter.

The frequency response of the device ranges between 70-20KHz with a 4-Ohm impedance. The drivers include a 1″ tweeter and 1.25″ voice coil.

Regarding the sound quality, there’s not much to complain about. The sound is pretty accurate and the pair of speakers is a good investment. (especially relative to the price tag.) The mids and highs are under acceptable levels, but the bass could have been better.

Bluetooth wireless music streaming is not allowed in the Pyle PLUTV42CH. Instead, it goes old-school and features an RCA input and 3.5mm for non-wireless music sources. Nevertheless, if you are looking for crisp sound performance at loud volumes, these are a solid pair of marine-grade construction-based waterproof speakers.

Specs

  • IP rating: IP65 with Marine-grade coating
  • Dimensions: 4-inch speakers
  • Weight: 7.74lbs each
  • Wattage: 800W max (each)
  • Inputs: 3.5mm aux (1/8″ TRS) and RCA
  • Channels: Dual-channel stereo

The Pyle PLUTV42CH dual-channel speaker system comes with everything you need. It includes two 4-inch waterproof ATV speakers, an 800W amplifier, RCA to aux cable, and an aux cable.

The speakers have a (somewhat) matte black finish with a plastic build. The speakers have an IP65 water-resistant rating and feature marine-grade housing.

Unfortunately, there are no controls or Bluetooth support for the device. Regardless, there is support for wired 3.5mm aux and RCA.

The sound quality was okay, and the amplifier does a decent job of raising (somewhat) distortion-free volume, but the amp is not waterproof. Therefore, we recommend installing it in a water-resistant location.

Don’t be fooled by the size of these ATV speakers; they deliver exceptional sound quality while also looking great on any handlebar. (Whether it’s a Harley or a Scrambler.) These speakers can fit most handlebars/roll bars because of the included extension brackets. On top of that, it’s got Bluetooth streaming, an FM radio, and a clock display. Also, did I forget to mention that it’s got support for multiple non-wireless music sources? (MicroSD and USB.)

The GoHawk RD8 Gen.2 speaker system includes a stereo-based system in a horizontal handlebar mount design. There is an in-built amplifier and a control panel in the middle and the speakers on either side.

The build quality on this set of speakers is quite decent. There is a dark metal grille protecting the drivers, while the main body of the controls has a plastic material. Also, there are a lot of metal parts for the frame and handlebar mounts.

The speakers feel very sturdy and come with a waterproof rating. The clamps support bars with 0.875″ to 1.25″ diameter and are built to fit the handlebars of most motorcycles and ATVs. Fortunately, the system comes with additional 5″ (each side) extension brackets.

The control system in the midsection is quite handy. There is a clock display with buttons for changing the volume and skipping tracks.

The audio on these ATV speakers is surprisingly loud, and the sound quality is pretty decent. Like many other speakers on this list, there is some distortion at higher volumes. Fortunately, you can easily play music using either your mobile devices or portable storage devices such as a MicroSD card or thumb drive.

If you’re looking for ATV speakers with the best value, nothing beats the GoHawk TN42.1. It’s got handlebar-compatible clamps, a wired remote, a versatile amplifier, and even a bass output for a subwoofer. I guarantee that the GoHawk TN4 2.1 will be the best choice for setting up your first waterproof ATV speaker.

  • Inputs: 3.5mm aux cord and Bluetooth 5.0
  • Channels: 2.1 channel stereo

The GoHawk TN4 system includes two waterproof speakers, a 600W amplifier, a wired remote, two handlebar clamps, and the necessary cables. The speakers have an IP56 rating, and the handlebar clamps support 1″-1.25″ roll bars. (Ideal for motorcycles.)

The speakers include a hard plastic exterior with a black glossy finish. However, there is a metal grille protecting the drivers. The amplifier is not waterproof but has an in-built FM radio, aux input, and three RCA ports. (Two for the stereo speakers and another for connecting a subwoofer.)

The system has a wired remote control that plugs into the amplifier. These remote controls include buttons for changing the volume and skipping/rolling back audio tracks. Also, it has an adjustable clamp, making it easy to install in handlebars and crash guards. (So you can seamlessly control the music while riding.)

Even though these ATV speakers can get loud, there is noticeable distortion and a complete lack of bass. Fortunately, this is one of the few systems that support an external subwoofer via RCA. (So despite lacking excellent sound quality you can always enjoy decent bass.)

Waterproof ATV Speakers Buying Guide

IP rating: IP65 is the minimum rating you should look for in a waterproof speaker. An IP65 rating guarantees that the speaker is protected from dust and can withstand water projected from a nozzle. Most ATV speakers have a rugged and waterproof design. However, if you find any IPX5-rated devices (or with lower or unspecified ratings), please be careful as these are not guaranteed to withstand full submersion in water.

ATV or quad adventure in the forest

Corrosion Resistance: If you’re hoping to install these speakers on a boat or an ATV making a lot of frequent stops by the beach, I highly suggest going for marine-grade speakers. These include a special coating that prevents the speakers from corrosion due to saltwater and other outdoor elements. I do not recommend installing motorcycle speakers on a boat (or a beachside ATV) because most of them do not include this corrosion-resistant coating.

Clamp Size: You don’t need to worry about the ATV speakers with large clamps because you can always add some padding when installing them into smaller roll bars. Unfortunately, this is not possible with smaller clamps. Therefore, if you get a set of ATV speakers with smaller clamps (ones that support motorcycle handlebars such as 0.875″ to 1.25″), you might have trouble installing these into your ATV/UTVs.

Loudness and Power Consumption: ATV speakers that produce loud music depend on how much power they can consume. (Hence, the need to have higher wattage.) However, some brands tend to compromise good sound quality in favor of exaggerating the wattage. So, before committing to an “allegedly loud” 4-inch speaker with a peak power rating of 1000W, be sure to read and check the reviews for overall sound quality. Higher wattage will not always lead to great sound.

Car audio amplifier on a black background.Car music.

What’s In The Box: Some systems will only include the speakers; hence, you will need to purchase an amplifier and wiring harness separately. Therefore, make sure you find out the contents of the package and confirm whether the amplifiers and wiring harness are included as well. Otherwise, you will have to purchase them separately. Also, keep an eye out for the Bluetooth feature.

Conclusion

Best Two-Channel ATV Speaker Setup
Best Waterproof ATV Speakers With The Most Compact Setup
Best ATV Speakers With Integrated RGB

ATV speakers are not like the usual car speaker or Bluetooth helmet speaker, they can be bulky, difficult to install, and some may not be able to stream music wirelessly. Nevertheless, they are great for the outdoors because of the marine-grade housing, which keeps the system safe against the outdoor elements. (Whether it’s rain, wind, snow, or even saltwater.)

Hopefully, this ATV speakers review piece helped you understand more about these devices and what to look for in an ideal ATV speaker system.
